Mrs. Michael Grady Dies; Aged 66
Mrs. Michael Grady, 66, lifetime resident of the Marquette Vicinity, died at her home Monday February 18, 1946. she had been in poor health for several months.
The former Jessie Helene Scrogum was born on March 19, 1879, at Scrogum's Landing north of Marquette on the Mississippi River, founded by her parents Mr. and Mrs Jacob Scrogum in old steamboat days. She was married June 18, 1895 to Michael E. Grady, an employee of the Milaukee railroad at Marquette.
Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Johnson and Mrs. Kathryne Ross of Marquette,; and one brother, Charles Scrogum of McGregor.
Funeral services were conducted at the pilkington Funeral Home in McGregor at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday, the Rev. E. H. Shuey officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor. Fr. Vernon Peters conducting the graveside rites.
Casket bearers were Al Roussell, Harold Rehm, Mark Young, Harry Schott, Clate Dickens, and Will Wingen.
Relatives and friends from away in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Rob't. Geraghty, Mr. and Mrs. James Geraghty. Celia and Mable Welch and Mrs. Ed. Grady, all of Monona; Earl Scrogum of Chicago, Mrs. Oscar Claus of Garnavillo and Mrs. Martin Boleyn of Dubuque.
