Harvey LeRoy Dickens

Harvey LeRoy Dickens, 73, of McGregor passed away May 12, 1997 at Prarie du Chien Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 7, 1923 to Clayton and Blanche (Ohnesorge) Dickens in Marquette, Iowa.

Harvey attended Marquette High School. After graduation, he entered the service, serving his country from October 3, 1942 to December 8, 1952. He served as commander of VFW and was a member of American Legion.

Harvey was joined in Marriage to Patricia M. Harry on December 2, 1867 in Manchester, Iowa.

He worked as an auto Mechanic for American Motors in Milwaukee, Wis.,and Isabella Construction of Oshkosh, Wis., and later retired from John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa. His favorite pastime was hunting rattlesnakes, the invention of his windmill and spending time with his family and friends.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son Terry (Darcy) Dickens of Marquette; four daughters, Tracy (Wade) Hebel and Tammy (Jeff) DuCharme, both of Prarie du Chien, Darlene Dickens and Sue (John) Dorszynski, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren; a brother, Robert Dickens; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Services were held May 15, 1997 at the United Methodist Church in Giard, Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home assisted the family
