Lawrence C. Dickens
Lawrence C. Dickens, 69, rural Sioux City, died Thursday August 23, 1984 shortly after arrival at a Sioux City hospital, after being stricken at his residence.
Services were at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church . The Rev. M. L. Jacobson officiated and burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with flage presentation conducted by Shull Post 580, Veterns of Foreign Wars. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by Masonic services conducted by Triangle Lodge 643, AF&AM, in Meyer Bros. Colonial Chapel.
Mr Dickens was born June 9, 1915 in Marquette. He married Delores L. Davis on December 30, 1940, in Dakita City. They came to Sioux City from Elk Point, SD. in 1947. He worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway for 30 years, until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of the Morningside Lutheran Church, Triangle lodge, 643, AF&AM, the Sioux City Consistory, Abu Bekr Shrine Temple, Rairoad Yardmasters of America, and Shull Post 580, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of world War II.
Servivors include his wife; two sons, Larry of Sioux City and Charles of LaMirada, Ca.; two daughters, Mrs Jim (Doreen) Burke of Glendale, AZ., and Mrs Jim (Barbra) Hennessey of Sioux Falls, SD.: two brothers, Harvey of McGregor and Robert of Beloit, WI.: and eight grandchildren.
