GARNAVILLO, Ia. – Services for Charles Frederick Hedeman, 93, oldest resident of the community, who died at 9 a.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie Milewsky, McGregor, Ia., after a short illness of influenza, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Garnavillo Cemetery.
Mr. Hedeman was born Sept. 25, 1859, in Garnavillo Township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hedeman. He married Margaret Mohning Jan. 17, 1887 in Garnavillo. They farmed in the township until 1927 when they moved to Garnavillo. Their 66th wedding anniversary was on Friday.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Nelda) Bludau, Froelich, Ia., and Mrs. Carrie Milewsky, McGregor; a son, Robert, West Branch, Ia.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The Tuecke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Aged Resident Dies
Here on Sunday
MorningCharles F. G. Hedemann, 93, a lifetime resident of this community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie Milewsky, Sunday morning, January 18. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. L. C. Urlaub, pastor, officiating.
Mr. Hedemann was born September 25, 1859 in Garnavillo township. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s church and confirmed in St. Paul’s church and throughout his life remained an active member of St. Paul’s congregation. For a time he served as a member of the church council.
On January 17, 1887, Mr. Hedemann married Margaret Mohning. Last year the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They had four children, Nelda, Mrs. Albert Bludau of Froelich; Mrs. Milewsky, Marvin, who preceded his father in death and Robert of West Branch.
Mr. Hedemann lived and worked on his farm just north of Garnavillo until 1927 when he retired, and moved to Garnavillo. During the last two winters, he and Mrs. Hedemann have lived with their children.
Besides his wife, two daughters and one son, he is survived by five grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Garnavillo cemetery.
