Earl W. Scrogum
Earl W. Scrogum of Alexandria, Minnesota was born December 27, 1899 to Charles L. Scrogum and Grace Dickens Scrogum. He attended Marquette Grade School, McGregor High School and the State University of Iowa in 1923. He met his wife Amanda C. Johnson of Evansville, Minnesota at the University and they were married in 1926. Mrs Scrogum preceded him in death in 1976.
He pursued a career in the advertising and publishing business. He was conected with "The Economist" and "Chicago Journal of Commerce" in Chicago until 1938. He became Advertising Director of two Boston sports magazines: "Hunting & Fishing" and Nationl Sportsman." Later he was Advertising direcetor of the Columbus, Ohio bassed "Outdoorsman." For 10 years he had his own advertising business in Chicago and was so successful he was able to retire at the age of 50 and move to Alexandria.
Earl and his wife Amanda pursued many hobbies, but travel and moving picture photography they were most noted for.
They became members of the First Congregational Church in 1951.
Funeral services were Monday August 28, 1978 at 11:00 A.M. from the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Alexandria, Minnesota. Rev. James A. Winters officiating. Interment was in Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville, Minnesota.
The organist was Mrs Clayton Amundson and soloist was Mrs.Erling Rolfsrud
