Ila Runneberg

Ila Charlotte Scrogum, daughter of Grace Dickens Scrogum and Charles Scrogum, was born January 26, 1908, at McGregor, Iowa. She passed away February 26, 1994, at Pocahontas Community Hospital, Pocahontas, Iowa, at the age of 86 years and 1 month.

Ila attended school in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1926. After graduation from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, she taught school in Mallard, Iowa, for two years and Rawlins, Wyoming, for fout years.

On September 21, 1934 Ila married Elroy Runneberg at services in McGregor, Iowa. They farmed southwest of Mallard for many years. in 1991 they moved to Laurens, Iowa and Ila entered the Good Samaritan Center in 1992.

Ila was a member of the United Methodist Church of Laurens, the Eastern Star Chapter of Plover, Iowa, past president of the Mallard P.T.A. and served as chairman of the W.S.C.S. (Womans Service to Christian Society)in Mallard. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Elroy of Laurens; son Charles (Roberta) of Madrid, Iowa; daughter, Marian Runneberg of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughters, Lisa (Rusty) Herrstrom, Lori Runneberg; great grandson Travis Herrstrom; sister Vivian Lee of Mapleton, Iowa.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Earl Scrogum
