Mrs. E. Doerring Funeral Rites Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Eugene Doerring, 45, of Luana were held Friday morning, Aug. 1, at 10:30 o'clock at St. Paul Lutheran church in Postville with Rev. Lenwood L. Monte officiating.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Mrs. Doerring died Tuesday morning, July 29, at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union, following a lingering illness.

As Rita LaVonne, she was born the daughter of William and Anna, nee Baltz, Gentz on a farm near Luana, June 16, 1924.

Her early years were spent in the Luana area where she attended rural school and graduated from high school at Luana.

She was married to Eugene Doerring, March 12, 1947, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua.

Preceding her in death were her father, one sister, Agnes, and a brother in infancy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Bonnie at home; a son, Dwight of Columbus, Ohio; her mother, Mrs. Anna Gentz of Strawberry Point; four sisters, Mrs. Harley (Mary) Radloff of Luana, Mrs. Ivan (Hester) McGuire and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Leach of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Albert (LuAnn) George of Boston, Mass.; one brother, William Gentz of Dubuque; and one grandson.
