Jean Gentz Services

Funeral services for Jean Gentz were held Saturday, April 10, 1993, 11:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. Father John Moran officiated. Pallbearers were sons, Gary, Ronald, Dean, Robert, Steven and David. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral home of Monona was in charge of services.

Jean Frances Gentz was born November 5, 1925, the daughter of Benjamin and Matilda Holly Lestina. She attended the Monona High School.

Jean was united in marriage to William Gentz on May 29, 1943. To this union 11 children were born. They moved to Monona in 1979 where she resided for the past 14 years. They previously lived in Dubuque for 29 years and also in Giard.

Jean was employed as a cook at the M-F-L Community School for five years from 1983-1988.

Jean died Wednesday, April 7, 1993 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She had reached the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William, who died January 22, 1992; her parents, and a brother, Gerald Lestina.

Survivors include six sons, Gary of Arlington, Texas, Ronald of Davenport, Iowa, Dean of Belvidere, Illinois, Robert of Davenport, Iowa, Steven of Lacey's Spring, Alabama, and David of Grapevine, Texas; five daughters, Joyce Coolahan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mary Ann Conzett of Dubuque, Iowa, Nancy Rommel of Bakersfield, California, Carol Gentz of Maui, Hawaii, and Joan Tayek of Monona, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Tom, Tim, Keri, C.J., Elizabeth, Brian, Erin, Kevin, Amanda, Johnathon, and Taylor Gentz, and Joshua Tayek; five step grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Sara, Jeff and Jim; three step-great-grandchildren, Breanna, Tara and Kaitlyn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
