Marie Kathryn Zieman

Marie Kathryn Zieman, daughter of Walter and Christine (Schroeder) Duwe, was born April 13, 1922 at Monona, IA. She graduated from Monona High School in 1939.

Marie was united in marriage to Curtis Zieman on January 20, 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, IA. Her hobbies included knitting, cooking, visiting and sports. She was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed horseshoe pitching with Curtis.

Marie died Monday, August 9, 1999 at the Prairie Health Care Center, Prairie du Chien, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Curtis, who died February 14, 1983.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands: Sharon and John Forssman of Ames, IA, Dianne and Frank Sudol of Ferryville, WI, Cindy and Harvey Block of Aurora, IL, Kathy and Glen Meisner of Iowa City, IA, and Robin and Doug Bernhard of McGregor, IA; 15 grandchildren, LuAnn Van Weelden, Deborah Forssman Hill, Holly Forssman, Tim, Randy & David Sudol, Eric & Heather Block, Heidi, Alison & Ben Meisner, Nicole, Brandon, Abbey & Austin Bernhard; one great granddaughter; one brother, Kenneth Duwe and his wife LaVonne of Monona, IA; one sister-in-law, Ida Baade of Monona, IA; one brother-in-law, Ray Chiappe of Winnetka, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 12, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, IA. Pastor Christopher Staley officiated. Organist was Helmuth Landt and soloists were Pastor Staley and Alison Meisner. Honorary pallbearers were Chet Bente, Foster Koth, Elmer Radloff, and Marlin Schultz. Pallbearers were Brian Duwe, Tim Sudol, Randy Sudol, David Sudol, Ben Meisner, Bob Berns, Austin Bernhard, Brandon Bernhard, and Eric Block. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
