Mrs. Edwin (Viola) Hoth, Elkader, died Monday, April 24,. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 11am. at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center.

Viola Marie (Schlitzer) Hoth
Funeral services for Viola Marie (Schlitzer) Hoth were held Wednesday, April 26, 11a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, in Clayton Center. Rev. J.H. Zerhusen officiated. Rev. Ted Newton sang "God Will Take Care Of You", and "Just As I Am", Mrs. Donna Borcherding accompanied the congregation at the organ during the liturgy.
Burial was at the New Clayton Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Hoth Jr., Steven Hoth, Dennis Landt, Bill Hoth, Ronald Henning, and Bobbie Hoth.
Mrs. Hoth died suddenly Monday, April 24, of a stroke at Central Community Hospital in Elkader.
She was born July 4, 1905 to William E. and Katherine Eckle Schitzer in Garnavillo Township, Clayton County. Viola was baptized by Rev. J. Janzig at St. John's Church in Guttenburg on April 13, 1919. She attended community school. Viola belonged to Lutheran Church Women.
Viola married Edwin Hoth on September 25, 1923 in a ceremony at Dubuque where Rev. J. Zeilinger officiated. After their marriage, Edwin and Viola farmed in Boardman Township until 1973. Mr. Hoth died November 2, 1986. Surviving are their children; Harry Hoth of Garber, Harold Hoth of rural Farmersburg, Dwane Hoth of Elkader, John Hoth of Garnavillo, Mrs. Lorenz (LuNida) Landt of Luana, and Mrs. Donald (Ivanelle) Henning, rural Strawberry Point. Mrs. Hoth is survived by 20 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her five sisters; Mrs. Forrest (Pearl) Dietrick of Dubuque, Mrs. Rosco ( Elsie) Larson of Elkader and Mrs. Willis (Daisy) Carrier of Guttenburg.

Funeral service for Viola Marie (Schloetzer) Hoth were conducted by Rev. John Zerhusen Wed., April 26, 1978 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, Ia. Viola died April 24, 1978 at Central Community Hospital, Elkader.
A daughter of Wm. and Kathryn Schloetzer, she was born July 4, 1905 on a Garnavillo Township farm. She attended the rural school of her community. Viola was baptized Sept. 10, 1905 and confirmed April 13, 1919. On Sept. 25, 1923 she was married to Edwin Ernst Hoth in Dubuque, Ia. by Rev. J. Zelilinger. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. of 1973. Her husband Edwin died Nov. 2, 1976. Mrs. Hoth was a member of Lutheran Church of Women.
Surviving are four sons: Harry of Garber, Harold of Farmersburg, Dwane of Elkader, and John of Garnavillo; two daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (LuNida) Landt, Luana, and Mrs. Donald (Ivanelle) Henning, Strawberry Point; twenty grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; three sisters: Pearl Dietrich of Dubuque, Elsie Larson, Elkader, and Daisy Carrier, Guttenberg.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Edwin, and two sisters, Ella and Edna.
Pallbearers were grandsons Harry Hoth, Jr., Steven Hoth, Dennis Landt, Bill Hoth, Ronald Henning and Bob Hoth.
