Mrs. A. Breitsprecher
Mrs. Ella Martha Hoth Breitsprecher, daughter of John and Elsie Meyer Hoth, was born June 15, 1886 in Boardman Township, Clayton County, Iowa, and died at her home in Elkader, Saturday, October 23, 1965.
She was baptized September 5, 1886, and was confirmed April 8, 1900, by the Rev. F.W. Seifert. She received her education in a rural school near her home in Boardman Township.
June 21, 1907, she was married to Albert Breitsprecher by the Rev. Leonhardt at the Elkader Peace Church. After their marriage, the Breitsprechers settled in Clayton Center where they farmed the present Roger Breitsprecher farm for 25 years until they retired to Elkader in 1932.
Mrs. Breitsprecher was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Centre, a member of the Zion Frauen Verein, later the Ladies Aid, and more recently the Lutheran Church Women.
In 1957, the Breitsprechers were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 26, 1965, at 2 p.m., in the Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, cemetery. Pallbearers were Ivan Freitag, Roger Breitsprecher, Carl Schmidt, Herb Thoma, L.M. Wagner and Gene Boots.
Mrs. Breitsrecher was preceded in death by her father July 16, 1948, and her mother June 1, 1958, two sisters, Sophia May, 1896, at age of 7, and Hilma, two brothers, Arthur and Emil Hoth.
She is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. Glendor (Vera) Freitag, and Ervin Breitsprecher, both of Elkader, three brothers, Edwin, Elmer, and Willis Hoth, all of Elkader, two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Mahala) Radloff, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Henry (Tena) Glawe, Elkader.
