Albert C. Breitsprecker

Funeral services for Albert C. Breitsprecker, 86, were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Centre, Wednesday September 13, 1972. Burial was in the new Clayton Center Cemetery. The Rev. J. H. Zerhusen, pastor, officiated.

Breitsprecker died Sunday afternoon, September 10, at Central Community Hospital. He had been in poor health for several months but had been able to be around until the day before he died.

A son of John and Caroline (Radloff) Breitsprecker, he was born at Clayton Center on October 9, 1885. he was baptized by the Rev. F. W. Seifert at Zion Lutheran Church on October 11, 1885. He was confirmed in the same church by the same pastor on March 26, 1899.

He was educated in the rural school at Clayton Center and became occupied as a farmer, painter and carpenter. He also served on his church council and served at various times as chairman, treasurer and secretary of the council.

Prior to his marriage, Breitsprecker lived at Rudd in Floyd County for two years.

On June 21, 1907, he was married to Ella Hoth in a ceremony solumnized by the Rev. Franke at Peace Church in Elkader. In June 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Breitsprecker observed their golden wedding at their home in Elkader.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Glendor (Vera) Freitag and a son Ervin, both of Elkader.

Preceding him were his wife, in 1965, four brothers, Fred, Willie, Herman, and Robert and two sisters, Minnie and Mrs. August (Mary) Scheffert. Willie, Herman, Robert and Minnie died in childhood.

Pallbearers at his funeral were: Roger Breitsprecker, Ivan Freitag, Carl Schmidt, Vernon Hoth, Edwin Hoth, Willis Hoth.
