Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rosary at 7:00 p.m. September 28, 2006 at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory - Manchester, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Casket will be open for viewing and family will greet one hour before service September 29, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Strawberry Point, Iowa.
Interment: Private Burial, at St. Joseph's Cemetery - Greeley, Iowa.
Donald Eugene Smock was born near Wood Center in Clayton County, Iowa on February 18, 1919, the son of Homer and Aurilla (Fishel) Smock. He attended rural school and Greeley High School.
Donald was united in marriage to Donna Duffy on June 14, 1941, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. Donald farmed until 1961, worked at the Greeley Creamery, and worked in construction. In 1965 they moved to Dundee. Donald retired in 1981.
Donald died at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He was eighty-seven years of age. Donald liked gardening, horses, flowers, hunting, fishing, animals, and working on lawn mowers.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Dundee; three daughters, Shiela (Gerald) Dunn of Cedar Rapids, Suzanne (Richard) Langel of Manchester, and Debra (Ronald) Stoecker of Princeville, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Rodney Cozad; a great-grandson, Carter DeMoss; and nine siblings.
