St. Patrick's church at Monona was the scene of the marriage of Miss Mildred Rozella Waalk, daughter of Mrs. Mary Waalk of Monona, to J. Thomas Grady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grady of Monona, Oct. 19. The Rev. Luke Donlon, pastor, officiated. Miss Anna Mae Grady, sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and Mrs. Robert Carpenter of St. Paul, Minn., sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid. M. E. Grady of Maquoketa, served his brother as best man, and groomsman was Frederic Waalk of Cedar Rapids, brother of the bride. Ushers were Charles Fick of Monona, brother-in-law of the groom, and Joe Rothmeyer.
At the reception for 300 guests at the city hall club room, Mrs. Delos Martins and Mrs. Charles Fick of Monona cut the cake. Mrs. Frederick Waalk of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. M. F. Grady of Maquoketa poured.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady are graduates of the Monona high school. Mrs. Grady has been employed as secretary in the office of George Heins and at present is a cashier in the local office of the Interstate Power Co. Mr. Grady had returned recently from Germany, where he had been in service for two years. He is employed by Fred Kurdelmeyer, contractor.
The new home will be made at the Verne Koth apartments in Monona.
