STRAWBERRY POINT: At a double ring wedding service Thursday evening Miss Ersileen Carpenter became the bride of Howard Marquardt, and Miss Eileen Carpenter became the bride of Melvin Hoffman. The ceremonies were performed by the Rev. R. Park Anderson in the Methodist church, with the couples attending each other. Kay and Rita Carpenter, nieces of the brides, carried the rings on white pillows edged with lace.
The brides, twin daughters of Mrs. Anna Carpenter, are graduates of the Strawberry Point high school, attended Elkader junior college and Coe college, Cedar Rapids. The past year they taught in the grades of the Sumner school. Mr. Marquardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Marquardt, graduated from the Strawberry Point high school, the Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, and the past year taught commercial subjects in the Olin high school. Mr. Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hoffman of Lamont, graduated from the Lamont high school, and at present is fish culturist at Backbone State Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Marquardt will live in Iowa City where the former will be a student at the State university. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman will live at Backbone State Park.
