Wilker - Stannard marriage - 1947

In an impressive ceremony performed Sunday, Feb. 16, at the St. Sebald Lutheran church, Miss Evelyn Louise Stannard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Stannard, became the bride of Vernon Wilker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Wilker. The Rev. H. H. Hahn, pastor, officiated. The maid of honor was Miss Delores Wilker, the groom's sister, and Miss Patricia Candee, Volga, and Miss Wilma Alderson, Elkader, were the bridesmaids. Orville Stannard, Jr., the bride's brother, was best man, Ushers were William Wilker, Jr., and Burnell Wilker, Garnavillo. The bride graduated from the Volga high school and attended U.I.U. at Fayette, since which she has been teaching in Clayton county. The groom farms with his father on the F. J. Smith farm west of town. The couple plan to establish their home in Volga.
