Morarend - Peake marriage - 1947

At the Lutheran church in Guttenberg, Monday, Jan. 13, Miss Lois Peake, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Peake of Elkader, became the bride of Willard Morarend, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Morarend of Guttenberg. The Rev. Wm. Domres, pastor, officiated. Miss Eunice Morarend, sister of the groom, acted as bridesmaid, and Harland Kelly, cousin of the bride, served as best man. The bride is a graduate of the Elkader high school and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. For the past two years she has taught in the rural schools of Clayton county. The groom attended the Guttenberg school, saw active service with the marines and recently received his honorable discharge. The couple will be at home on a farm of the groom's parents near Guttenberg.
