Archbishop Gerken, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, officiated at the wedding of Miss Mildred Garaghty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Garaghty, to Alfred Gerken, son of Mrs. John Gerken of Dyersville, and nephew of the Archbishop. The wedding occurred Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic church. The Archbishop is the youngest one in the United States. Miss Corrine Garaghty, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Ival Tegeler, of Waterloo, was best man. Singing was rendered by Mrs. Joseph Garaghty, sister-in-law of the bride.
Mrs. Gerken is a graduate of St. Joseph's high school, and attended State Teachers college. She has taught school, and for the past few years has been employed in the Central States Power and Light corporation office here.
The groom was graduated from St. Xaviers high school and is now in business in Dyersville. The new couple will be at home in Dyersville.
