On Wednesday morning at Fayette occurred the wedding of Miss Bessie Humphrey, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter K. Humphrey, of that place and Max B. Bishop, of Elkader, The Rev. Dr. Kennedy, of the M. E. church performed the ceremony. Miss Bernice Claxton, of Fayette, served as bride's maid, Clint G. Bishop as best man. Only a few relatives and friends were present. After the ceremony an elegant wedding dinner was served, after which Mr. and Mrs. Bishop were driven to Randalia where they left on the Rock Island train for Cedar Rapids and Des Moines on a wedding trip.
The bride is formerly a Clayton County girl, but for some years she has lived in Fayette. She is highly educated and highly accomplished, having been a teacher, a student of Upper Iowa University and a graduate from its music department.
The groom is the second son of Editor H. C. Bishop of the Democrat, a graduate of the Elkader High School, and of the law department of Drake University. For nearly three years he has been Clerk of the Courts of Clayton county.
