Lorraine E. Ponsar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ponsar Sr., Maynard, became the bride of John J. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Miller, of Elkader, on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Rev. J. Blackburn read the nuptial mass, and performed the double ring ceremony at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader. Pat and Dan Miehe, cousins of the bridegroom were acolytes.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, M. L. Ponsar of Elkader. The bride's sister, Mrs. Gordon Sanford of Oelwein, was her only attendant. Attending the bridegroom was his cousin, Merlin F. Frommelt of Elkader. Ushers were Louis Ponsar, brother of the bride, and Loren Frommelt, a cousin of the bridegroom.
A wedding dinner was served in the St. Joseph's hall to 75 guests. A reception was held at the Vets club rooms for 150 guests from 2 to 4 o'clock. Mrs. E. R. Ponsar of Maynard, and Mrs. M. L. Ponsar of Elkader, presided at the table.
Following the reception the couple left for a two weeks' trip through the western states.
Mrs. Miller is a graduate of the Maynard high school and of the Elkader junior college. Since her graduation, she has been secretary of the Clayton county Farm Bureau office in Elkader. Mr. Miller is a graduate of the St. Joseph's high school and of the Elkader junior college. After his return from the service, he became associated with the Walke Hardware in Elkader.
The couple will be at home after October 15 in an apartment in the Miller residence.
