On Thursday afternoon, Sept. 22, at two o'clock, Miss Jean Louise Oldfather, became the bride of Melvin Blevins, at the home of the her sister, Mrs. Howard Rahmiller. The wedding occurred on the birthday anniversary of the bride's father, Frank Oldfather. Rev. Faris of the Volga Methodist church performed the ceremony.
The bride's attendants were her two sisters, Mrs. Jack Huebsch and Mrs. Howard Rahmiller. The groom was attended by the bride's two brothers-in-law, Jack Huebsch and Howard Rahmiller. Nancy Oldfather, niece of the bride, served as flower girl, and Eldon Rahmiller, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer and carried two rings on a satin pillow.
Besides the above mentioned, Mrs. Lynn Oldfather, Kathleen Oldfather and Doyce Huebsch attended the ceremony.
Mrs. Blevins is a graduate of the Volga high school, class of 1949. She attended Gates Buisness college at Waterloo for a short time, and at present is employed by the Woolworth store in East Waterloo. Mr. Melvin Blevin has been employed for more than a year by John Deere and Co. at Waterloo. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blevins of Cabool, Mo.
The young couple will make their home in an apartment in Waterloo.
