Corlett - Knudson marriage 1949

Miss Marjorie Nell Knudson, daughter of Mrs. Walter Ernst of Arlington, and Hale Corlett Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Hale Corlett Sr. of Farmersburg, were married at a candlelight ceremony Saturday evening, Sept 17, at 8 o'clock at the St. Olaf chapel. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Alfred Knudson of St. Olaf. Mrs. Robert Corlett, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and Miss Audrey Weldon of Cincinnati, Iowa, was bridesmaid. Gail Corlett niece of both bride and bridegroom, and Carolyn Kacena, niece of the bridegroom, were flower girls. Robert Corlett, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Bruce Little was groomsman. Earle Corlett of Castalia, brother of the bridegroom, and Martin Kacena of Cedar Rapids, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, served as ushers. Mrs. Hannah Knudson of St. Olaf and Mrs. Christina Haltmeyer of Farmersburg, grandmothers of the bride, were in attendance.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Robert Corlett home. Mrs. Earle Corlett, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, served the wedding cake and Mrs. Martin Kacena, sister of the bridegroom, poured coffee. Mrs. M. J. Moore of Maynard, sister of the bride, had charge of the guest book.

The bride is a graduate of Farmersburg high school and is a registered nurse, having been graduated from the American hospital, Chicago, Ill. She formerly nursed in hospitals in Maywood, Ill., and Prairie du Chien, Wis.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Farmersburg high school and served four years overseas with the armed forces. He is at present engaged in farming with his brother near Farmersburg.

After a wedding trip through the Ozarks the couple will make their home in St. Olaf.
