I, Margaretha Laging of the town of Guttenberg, County of Clayton, State of Iowa, being of sound disposing mind and memory, and of full age, do hereby make and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
First. I give and bequeath to my beloved husband Friedrich Laking [sic] all my real and personal property, for his own use, during his natural life, just the same as I would do if living.
Second. After the death of my husband and after all lawful claims against my estate and against the estate of my said husband are paid, I give the residue of all my money and outstanding notes to Henry Gilster.
Third I give and bequeath the residue of all my real and personal property to Mrs. Maria Horsch (the wife of William Horsch).
I hereby appoint James Schroeder Executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have set my hand this 18th day of December A.D. 1894

The foregoing instrument was at the date thereof, subscribed by Margaretha Laging in our presence, and she at the same time declared it to be her last will and testament, and by her request we signed our names both in her presence and in the presence of each other

Clayton CountyI, M. P. Dunn Clerk of the District Court in and for said County do hereby certify that on this day at the April Term A. D. 1895, of said Court, the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed, and bearing date on the 18th day of December 1894, was duly approved before and allowed by said Court as and for the last will and testament of the real and personal estate of Margaretha Laging late of said County, deceased, and was by said Court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at my office in Elkader in said County, this first day of April A.D. 1895.
