FRED J. SPLIES and BERTHA OELKE

Fred J. Splies, b. 4 Dec 1850 near Garnavillo, the son of Jacob and Christine (Brooker) Splies, and Bertha Dorethe Oelke, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Willruth) Oelke, were married 9 Feb 1876. They moved to the Luana area where they farmed after their marriage.

Their children were William John b. 10 Aug 1877; Christina Marie Elizabeth b. 22 Jan 1880; and Charolette (Lottie) b. 7 Mar 1885, all in Farmersburg Twp. William married Maude E. Truman 21 Feb 1906, Elizabeth married Henry Schultz, and Lottie married Lloyd Ernst. Elizabeth died in 1956; Lottie 9 Mar 1914.
