Wilhelm (William ) Rosburg (Rosberg), born 1837 Germany, son of Fritz and Maria Rosburg, came to the US from Germany with his 17 year old brother, Henry, when he was 19 years old on the ship HM Wiser. It docked on 1 June 1857 in New York City.
They lived and worked in Davenport for awhile where he married Maria 'Mary' Nieland, daughter of Henry Nieland, born in Germany.
They moved to Giard, Clayton Co. IA. where he had a blacksmith shop and was the first wagon maker in the county.
He enrolled in the Union Army on Oct 5, 1864 in to Co B, 3th Iowa Infantry (14 Aug-Oct 1865). He was shot in the leg while in the service.
Their first child, Emma, born 14 Aug 1864, died Oct 1865, in Atlanta, GA.
The family moved to Blairstown, Iowa where they had Charles, born 1867, Martha, born 1869, Rosa, born 1871, Amelia, born 1874, William, born 1876, Mary, born 1877 and Ella, born 1879.
Later they removed to Luzerne, IA. They are buried in the Lutheran Cemetery, south of Luzerne, IA.
