Henry Oelke and Elsabea Dorothea Heesch Schoellerman were married 18 Oct 1867 in Garnavillo, Iowa. Henry and his brother August farmed near Garnavillo on their father's farm and specialized in raising shorthorn cattle. In 1887 they sold out their farming operation and August bought a farm near Audubon, Iowa. Henry purchased the general merchandise business of H. Knudson in Farmersburg and also engaged in the livestock, grain and lumber business there. He also served as postmaster.

The six children of Henry and Elsabea Oelke were Christopher William b. 17 Oct 1868, Carl Frederick Henry (Henry Jr.) b. 5 Sept 1870, Edward Carl b. 22 Sept 1872, Frederick Heinrich Peter (Freddy) b. 3 July 1874 d. 3 Nov 1874 bd. Garnavillo, Iowa, Arno Helmuth Fritz b. 17 Nov 1877, and Katherine Elizabeth Marie b. 2 Dec 1882 d. 29 Apr 1911 bd. Garnavillo, Iowa. They were all born at Garnavillo.

Christopher married Emma Buck, the daughter of August Buck on 10 March 1891. Their children were Elise b. 14 Dec 1891, Lawrence b. 22 June 1893, Harold b. 31 Aug 1894, Theresa b. 14 Feb 1896, Victor b. 11 May 1897, Carleton b. 29 July 1898, Vivian b. 28 Aug 1901, Bernice b. 13 Apr 1905, and Favorite b. 4 July 1906. Christopher d. 6 June 1936; his wife Emma the same year. Both are buried at Garnavillo.

Henry Jr. married Theresa Looby, the daughter of Edward Looby and Margaret on 3 June 1896 at Farmersburg, Iowa. Their children were Leslie (Little Hutz) b. 23 Mar 1899, Marguerite (Peg) b. 21 Oct 1898, Lloyd (Slim) and Floyd (Fat), twins born 8 July 1903.

Ed married Mary Kluth, the daughter of Joachim and Marie (Schumacher) Kluth on 9 March 1894 at Farmersburg. Their children were Lester b. 21 Sept 1894, Margareth Elisabeth Elsa Katherine b. 21 Oct 1898, and Gaylord b. 19 Oct 1900.

Arno married Frances Hauschen. The only daughter of Henry and Elsabea Oelke, Kate, was an invalid and never married.

Henry Oelke died the 16 July 1932; his wife 13 May 1922. Both are buried in the Garnavillo cemetery.
