Arno Oelke and Frances Hauschen
(By Judy Bender Moyna)Arno Oelke and Frances Hauschen were married on 1 Nov 1898 at the Hauschen home in Farmersburg. Frances was a graduate of Elkader High School and a teacher. Arno was a merchant and insurance salesman.
Their children were Donald (Dutch) b. 5 Sept 1902, d. 1 Mar 1975, bd. Cassville, Wisconsin; Otto Kenneth b. 10 Sept 1906; and Blanche Margaret, b. 2 Apr 1909, d. 1983.
Donald was a salesman and hotel keeper. He and his first wife Lillian Vogt were the parents of two daughters born in Farmersburg, Marinette June b. 14 June 1919 and Donna Mae b. 9 Aug 1922.
Otto Oelke received his BA from Carthage College in 1931 and his theological training at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque. Rev. Oelke married Esther Lentz and they were the parents of one son, Luther, who is also a Lutheran minister.
Blanche Oelke, a graduate of Bayless Business College, Dubuque, married Paul Swanson, a theater owner and operator. Their children were Gloria Blanche, Robert Paul, Dean Edward b. 18 June 1947 d. 15 July 1947, and Paul Francis.
Frances Hauschen Oelke died 24 Dec 1948 of heart disease. Arno later married Fern Mitchell Cassidy. On 29 June 1958 he died in Florida and was buried in the Monona cemetery beside his first wife.
