Murphy, Daniel D., Elkader, Iowa, Lawyer, banker; born in New Diggins, Wis., Aug 22, 1862; son of John G. and Ellen (McCarthy) Murphy; graduated from State Normal School of Platteville, Wis., 1883; Univ. of Iowa, LL.B., 1887; married at Guttenberg, Iowa, June 16, 1888, Henrietta Johnson. Admitted to the bar, and has been in active practice at Elkader, Iowa, since Aug 1, 1888; vice-president Elkader State Bank; director Morseby Island Lumber Co., LTD. County attorney Clayton County, Iowa 1891-95; delegate Democratic National Convention, 1892. President, Iowa State Bar Assn.; member American Bar Assn.; trustee Elkader public schools; member Iowa State Board of Education. Roman Catholic.
