Joackin and Willamina Weisz Koth

Joackin Koth born in Schwerin Mecklenberg, Germany, June 4, 1824. Married Willamina Weisz Sept. 20, 1852. Came from Mecklenberg, Germany, to America, landed in Galveston, Texas, in 1853. Then to New Orleans until spring. They moved to Cincinatti,Ohio, for one year. Then to Clayton County, Farmersburg Twp. Nine children were born to this union: Mary (Mrs. H. Buckman), William, Minnie (Mrs. C.E. Sebastian) Herman, Emma (Mrs. G.E. Leonard), Bertha (Mrs F. Tanner), Henry F., Fred, and Tillie M. Joackin became a member of the German Lutheran Church. Died May 11, 1896. Mrs. Koth died Aug. 22, 1896. Both buried in the Monona Cemetery.

Herman Koth, son of Joackin and Willamina Weisz Koth, born June 16, 1858, in Farmersburg Twp. Married Helen Henkes born March 13, 1860 on April 1, 1881. Herman Koth farmed west of Monona, also owned and operated a feed mill in Monona. Seven children were born to this union. Roy, Erva (Mrs. F.L. Jarms), Ross, Flossie (Mrs. John Ulish), Vern, Hazel (Mrs Roy Rowland), and Ruth (Mrs. A. Pufahl). Herman died Oct. 19, 1929, and Helen died March 8, 1939. Burial Monona Cemetery.

Vern Koth, son of Herman and Helen Henkes Koth, born June 10, 1893, in Wagner Twp. Married Teresa Ames March 11, 1915. Farmed west of Monona. They were the parents of four children. Donald, Ray, Foster, and Marjorie (Mrs. Louis Olson). Donald Koth lost his life in WWII in Sicily. Teresa Koth passed away Feb. 10, 1979. Burial in the Monona Cemetery. Vern Koth's were members of the Methodist Church in Monona.

Ray C. Koth born April 22, 1917, married Kathryn E. Schroeder Aug. 17, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo Ia. Worked on a dairy farm near Cedar Rapids, Ia., for 2 1/2 years. Returned to Clayton County and farmed north of Garnavillo until retiremnt in 1979. They were active members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Three children were born to this union: Neala b. June 22, 1944, living in Colo., is a seamstress. Nancy b. March 31, 1947, married John Hase June 22, 1974, living in Onalaska, Wis. Parents of two children, Matthew b. June 19, 1977, and Joanna b. April 25, 1979. Nancy was a former school teacher. Chester (Chet) b. Feb. 14, 1958, married Rita Berns July 28, 1979. Parents of one son Adam b. Dec 11, 1982. Chester is the manager of Clayton County's first radio station, FM 100 and KCTN.

Foster V. Koth born Oct. 23, 1919. Married Hildegard Wiese July 8, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo. Was herdman at West Amana, Ia., and at A.L. Killian farm. March 1944 returned to Clayton County and farmed until retirement in 1979. They were the parents of one daughter Karen b. July 20, 1942, married Douglas Cordes Nov. 27,1960. They were the parents of three children: Shawn b. March 24, 1963, Todd b. March 1,1966, and Shelley b. March 13, 1967.

Karen married Garg Prunkard June 29, 1980, of Fairfield, Ohio.

Marjorie Koth married Louis Olson Nov. 27, 1940, was born Jan. 19, 1922. Louis passed away after a car accident Oct. 10, 1979. Marjorie married Les Anderson May 23, 1982.

Note: Most sources show the spelling of Mr. Koth's first name as "Joachim".
