Allan Herbert Zuern Family/Motorcycle Accident

Hey all! I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Allan Herbert Zuern.
He was (we believe) was born in Atlantic, Iowa on December 8th, 1935. He was born to two unknown parents, and had six siblings (whom are unknown to us). His father died in a motorcycle accident when my grandfather was only a few months to a year old. His mother, unable to support seven children, gave her children to relatives or put them up for adoption.

That's literally all we know. He was adopted by the Zuerns and grew up in Iowa. His adoptive parents refused to give him any information as to how to find his real parents, other than the fact that it was a "closed adoption".

Anyone have any information or sources than can help us finally solve this mystery? My grandfather passed away a few years ago and he never found out, and we're still at a loss. Thanks!
