Frank's father was David Rittenhouse Pennel (b. January 01, 1837; Everett, Bedford Co., Pennsylvania - d. May 18, 1921; Everett, Pennsylvania). "...Lucy Ann, born 1835; married David Rittenhouse Pennel, who has been born in Everett in 1837. The Pennels moved to South Dakota, where Lucy Ann died in 1907. Her husband returned to Everett after Lucy's death; he died in Everett in about 1912 or 1913, and is buried in the Everett Cemetery."
Source: Altona Library, Altona, PennsylvaniaDavid R. Pennel and Lucy Ann Steckman lived in Iowa for only a decade where Frank was born...an event of which I have no information.
David R. Pennel was one of 13 children of Jacob Pennel (b. abt. 1812; Bedford Co., Pennsylvania - d. abt. 1879; Bedford Co., Pennsylvania) and Rosilla Jay (b. July 16, 1817; Bedofrd Co., Pennsylvania - d. February 15, 1876).
Jacob Pennel was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Pennel. He had two brothers: John Pennel and Joshua Pennel; and one sisiter, Marry Pennel.
That about as far back as I have concrete information. The decade David R. Pennel and his family spent in Iowa is a mystery, but important since that is where Frank and probably his brother were both born.
If you have any clues, I would be estatic to learn of them.
Cheers,
Steve
