Leona,

Lucy Estella Pennel (b.July 04, 1898; South Dakota), AKA "Stella" Pennel, married Harry J. Excell on June 01, 1917, in Elk Point, Union County, South Dakota.

Lucy's father was Frank B. Pennel (b. September 1868; Blackhawk County, Iowa) who married Charlott Emma Stark (b. March 27, 1875; South Dakota - d. September 19, 1944, Santa Clara, California).

Frank's father was David Rittenhouse Pennel (b. January 01, 1837; Everett, Bedford Co., Pennsylvania - d. May 18, 1921; Everett, Pennsylvania). Married Lucy Ann Steckman (b. 1835; Pennsylvania - d. 1907; Elk Point, Union County, South Dakota) on November 18, 1859, in Clearville, Beford Co., Pennsylvania.

David R. Pennel and Lucy Ann Steckman lived in Iowa for only a decade where Frank was born...an event of which I have no information.

David R. Pennel was one of 13 children of Jacob Pennel (b. abt. 1812; Bedford Co., Pennsylvania - d. abt. 1879; Bedford Co., Pennsylvania) and Rosilla Jay (b. July 16, 1817; Bedofrd Co., Pennsylvania - d. February 15, 1876).

Jacob Pennel was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Pennel. He had two brothers: John Pennel and Joshua Pennel; and one sisiter, Marry Pennel.

That about as far back as I have concrete information. The decade David R. Pennel and his family spent in Iowa is a mystery, but important since that is where Frank and probably his brother were both born.

If you have any clues, I would be estatic to learn of them.

Cheers,

Steve
