In Response To: PENNELs of Blackhawk County, Iowa (Steve Excell)

If these Pennells came to Blackhawk Co. in 1860, they must be related because that is where William Pennell settled and it seems odd they would have landed there by chance. William was born in Pennsylvania and there is still a whole nest of Pennells in Pennsylvania and Trumbull Co. Ohio, because they seem to have migrated in groups from Pennsylvania. William came to Iowa in about 1850. It is then he shows up on the Blackhawk census. In 1840, they were still in Ohio.
To-day I found a George E. Pennell in Cass County, and I know nothing about him--just heard of him to-day.
Why don't you tell me about your Pennells and I'll see if I can match them up with any of mine.
Leona
