I read with interest your post and you wrote "that Samuel Maring and his 1st wife, Alma Hall. Samuel of course was the son of Jacob and Eleanor Monroe Maring from Pennsylvania.". My great great grandfather was Samuel Maring also. His son, Sanford P. Maring was my great grandfather and Sanford's son, John Loyd Maring was my grandfather. Samuel was the 4th child born to Moses Maring and Eleanor Monroe on January 4, 1820 in Somerton, Belmont, OH. He married Alma Hall, who died at the birth of her son James Madison. Moses' father was John Maring born 1770 in NJ who married Sara Bell. John Maring was the son of Nicolaus Maring who married Susannah ????. Catherine was the stepsister to my great Grandfather Sanford (he was born by Julia - 2nd wife of Samuel). Eleanor (Mary Ellen) Monroe was born December 18, 1799 in Kent, PA (or Delaware?). She was the daughter of Nicholas Monroe and Sarah Miller(?). I hope this information helps.
