In Response To: Jones, Davis (Bonnie Mitchell Vinduska)

My ancestor was Silas Davis who was married to Jane Jones. Silas died on the Oregon Trail in 1852. My gg grandfather Newton E Mulvany married his dau, Elizabeth in Oregon. Here is some of what I have. If there is a connection, I have some probate and other records from Appanoose Co. Hope this helps.

From the 1840 Van Buren County, Iowa census:
Silas Davis
2 males under 5
2 males 5-10
2 males 10-20
2 females under 5 (Elizabeth would be about a year old.)
1 female 30-40

There was an Isaac Davis family in the same county.

In the WPA Mahaska County Burial records there are many Davis's. Among them:
Eli O Davis died 6 May 1846, buried Old White cemetery in Lincoln Twp.
Eliza Davis, died 26 November 1861, Buried Wymore cemetery, Monroe Twp.
James Davis, died 16 January 1855, buried Olivet cemetery, Scot Twp.
Margaret Ann Davis, died 27 December 1828, buried Barnes cemetery, Pleasant Grove Twp.
