Posted for a Facebook acquaintance: Would love to find out what happened in Nov. 1860, Unionville, Appanoose county, IA that caused my 3-Great Grandmother and three of her 5 surviving children to die. Her husband Ephraim Patterson Ralston and their oldest and youngest child, (the youngest was my G-G-Grandmother), survived. Magdaline (Hildebrandt) Ralston d. 02 Nov. 1860; daughter Sarah Ralston d. 08 Nov. 1860; daughter Mary Jane Ralston d. 09 Nov. 1860; son Lewis Ralston d. 14 Nov. 1860. They are all buried in the Unionville Cemetery Appanoose county, IA. This picture was taken in 1932, but I have visited the cemetery myself and have more recent pics. Checked the cemetery for others who may have died 30 days before and 30 days after, for a possible outbreak, but did not find many. Was told there was a Sioux uprising in the area during 1860 which could be a possibility?
