zgThis is what I think I know:
My great-great grandparents were John or Johannes Saxon (or Issacson, Saxsson, Saxson or Essaxon). His wife was Christine Issacson (don’t know if that was her maiden name). The arrived in America from Ostergotland, Sweden in 1852. I believe they arrived through the Great Lakes and not the East Coast, not certain. The lived in Moline and Fulton, IL. They both died in 1855 of “yellow jaundice”, probably got hepatitis on the trip over - don’t know. They had four children who came with them from Sweden. Their names were Charles, Christine C, Caroline and John. When the parents died the children were divided and lived in different homes.
My great grandfather was Charles (the son of Charles and Christine). He was born 10/5/1834 in Wasdtena, Sweden. He turned 18 years old soon after arriving in the USA. He and his wife Augusta F. Anderson were married in Allamakee County, IA on 9/2/1862. They moved to Nobles County, MN from Allamakee County, IA in 1872. I have extensive information on this branch, which I am not including here.
Christine C. was born 4/1838 in Sweden. She was known in the family as Teeny. She married Magnus Ahlstrom in Fulton, IA. Would like more information.
Caroline was born in 1843 in Sweden. She was known in the family as Carrie. She married John Johnson. The 1900 census lists her as a widow. Would like more information.
John was born 11/18/1845 in Vesteyplun[?m], Sweden). He was five years old when the family came to the USA, so some date is not correct. He was “placed” with a Dunkard minister who mistreated him. He ram away at age 14 and joined the North for the Civil War. He married Martha B. Johnson in MN on 9/13/1880. Have more information on this branch too, but not including here.
During the time the family was in Allamakee County, IA they were associated with the rural Center Baptist Church. I believe the address there is Lansing, IA. Some family members are buried at the church cemetery there.
My great grandmother was Augusta F. Anderson. She was born 12/19/1839 in Ekeby Ostergatland, Sweden. Her father was Carl Anderson. I have no further information on him or any record of a wife. She married 9/2/1852 in Allamakee County, IA, died 6/7 or 17/1917 in Nobles County, MN. She had nine children. Only one was a girl, Ida Christine. She and her husband Samuel Anderson are buried in the Center Baptist Church cemetery.
I would really like to find more information on Johannes (John) and Christine. I don’t know where they died or where they are buried. My guess is in IL based on my research of the applicable census records. They were never ennumerated, but their children were. I’d also like to know more about Augusta F. (Fredericka?) Anderson - Saxon and her parents (father Carl).
