Solon B. Finney was born in Essex county, New york, in 1844, residing there until he was 21 years old, when he came to northeast Iowa. About 1869 he resided near Postville, and in 1874 was married to Ellen Bike. To them were born three children - Ross L., of Minneapolis; Mrs. Myra McComb, of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; and Harry, of Willamette, a suberb of Chicago, Ill.
In 1891 Mr. and Mrs. Finney moved to Fayette, where they ran a grocery. Mrs. Finney passed away in March of 1912. Mr. Finney moved to Alhambra, Calif. in 1916, and there he died on Wednesday, Nov. 9th, 1927. Eight years ago he married Mrs. Annie Beaver, who survives.
Mr. Finney's body was brought back to Fayette for burial.
