Helen L. Westrope, daughter of Henry E. and Laura Beaumont Westrope, was born August 12, 1887 in Corning, Iowa, and died March 17, 1965 at the Bishop Drumm Home in Des Moines.
She received her education in the Corning schools, Grinnell College and the School of Music at Mt. Vernon, Iowa where she graduated.
After teaching in the Bedford and the Corning schools, she moved to Des Moines where she was employed at the Internal Revenue offices
until her retirement. After retiring she traveled extensively through Europe.
The past five years she had made her home at the Bishop Drumm home. She broke her hip on February 14 and then on March 15 suffered a severe stroke from which she did not recover. She leaves to mourn her passing, two brothers, Wayne B. Westrope of Geneva, ILL.. and Alan R. Westrope of Des Moines; other relatives and friends.
Prayer service was held Friday, March 19 at 1 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev. W. H. Sinning officiating. Interment
was in Walnut Grove cemetery.
