Adams County Free PressThe remains of Michael Glassinger were brought to Creston and from there to the Henry Everling home, near Nevinville, from Eldorado,
Kans., Saturday of last week. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church at Nevin. at 2 p. m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. Arthur Hueser, who made a brief but appropriate address. A quartet, composed of Mrs. Lester Atwood and Mrs. R. T. Martin and F. R. Grant and Roy Taylor, sang in a touching and expressive manner, three beautiful selections.
Six young men who have lately returned from overseas service in the U. S. uniform served as pallbearers, and the W. R. C. received and escorted the casket to its place in front of the rostrum, led and followed by the national colors. Mr. Glassinger was one of he old and highly respected citizens of this part of the country. He was a little more than 82 years of
age and death came very suddenly, without suffering or warning. He was born in Germany and came to this country when a small boy. He
first settled in Johnson county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and was married. He came to Adams county about 40 years ago and has made this
his home ever since, with the exception of the last five years, which he spent with a daughter in the south. His wife preceded him in death about 10 years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss five daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Strumpp, of Spaulding, Nebr.; Mrs. Alice Everling, of Nevinville; Mrs.
Annie Showers, of Kent, and Mrs. Josie Warbington, of Derby. One daughter, Mrs. Francis Polson, of Des Moines, passed from this life about four years ago. Beside the relatives mentioned, six sons survive, Frank, of Spaulding, Nebr.; Herbert, of Creston, Iowa; Gurney, of Derby, Iowa; John, of Nevinville; Benjamin, of Idaho and Dan of McPherson, Iowa:
also over 50 grandchildren and about 20 great grandchildren survive the deceased.
Mr. Glassinger served three years in the civil war and was a member of the Jewett Post of the G. A. R. He was a member of the Congregational church and lived at all times of life of a consistent christian. Sympathy is offered the bereaved relatives by a large number
of friends and acquaintances.
