Has 5 churches, a graded public school, 2 banks, water works, an opera house, and a weekly newspaper---the Tribune. ATLANTIC. Population, 4,560. An incorporated city located on the Nishnabotna river and on the C., R. I. & P. and A., N. & S. Rys., in Cass county, of which it is the judicial seat. It is 60 miles n. e. of Council Bluffs, 82 w. of Des Moines and 440 w. of Chicago, Ill. This is the trade center of a prosperous agricultural district and is supplied with 12 churches, excellent educational facilities, water works, fire department, opera house, 5 banks and 2 newspapers, The Atlantic News-Telegraph (daily), and the Advertiser (semi-weekly). There are several elevators, iron works, planing mill, canning factory, knitting factory, machine shops, creamery, etc. Ships grain, live stock, produce and canned goods. Tel., Postal and W. U.
