Jeanette Rose Rasmussen, the daughter of Contina Hansen and Christian Rasmussen, was born June 10, 1903 in Goldfield. Jeanette grew up and attended rural schools in Goldfield. She was employed in Minneapolis and California. She returned to Minneapolis from California and married Martin Nervig of Eagle Grove on December 12, 1946. The couple lived and farmed on the Nervig family farm until 1963 when they retired and moved in to Eagle Grove.

Jeanette was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove where she was very active.

Jeanette Nervig died early Sunday morning, January 1, 1989 at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, at the age of 85 years, six months, and 21 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Peter, Andrew, Harry and an infant brother; three sisters, Lillie Gosnell, Anna Pletcher and Jennie Rasmussen.

She is survived by her niece, Ruth Driessen of Eagle Grove, who was raised by Jeanette's parents and a great-niece, Dorothy Rose, Bloomington, Minn., who spent many summers with the Nervigs; other nieces and nephews, Margaret Stohr, Charles City; Gary Lee Rasmussen, Marshfield, Wis.; Gerald Rasmussen, Mason City; Jack Gosnell, Joplin, Mo.; Nadine Beneke, Colo.; Lizzie Helland, Mondovi, Wis., Arlene Opstad, Garden Grove, Calif., Lawrence Anfinson, Ladora, Iowa; Gerald Nervig, Eagle Grove; and Arthur Nervig, Colorado.

Funeral services were held on January 4, 1989 at 1 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
