Obituary

William P., son of Charles Bleasner and Jessie Arkebaur, was born May 10, 1871 at Jerseyville, Ill., and departed this life at his home, 401 S. Commercial Ave., Saturday morning, July 23, age 78 years, 2 months, 13 days.

He was one of a family of 12 children and when 14 years of age moved with his parents to a homestead near Watertown, S. D. Here his mother died and at the age of 16 he came to Eagle Grove to make his home with a sister, Mrs. Jerry Brennan, living on a farm southeast of town. It was in this community he spent the next several years.

On Feb. 5, 1902 he was united in marriage with Hattie Mickleson. In the spring of 1911, they moved to a farm they had purchased four miles north of Renwick. This was their home until January 1943, when the present home on S. Commercial was established.

Mr. Bleasner was deeply interested in community affairs serving as clerk of his township in Humboldt county and was one of those promoting the building of the Vernon consolidated school, serving on the board of directors for 20 years.

His passing is mourned by his wife, 4 children, Lee of Seattle, Wash., Jessie, Mrs. P. E. Ernst, also of Seattle, Bernice, Mrs. Lymon Gates, Elmhurst, Ill., and Wilma, Mrs. Willard Duer of Kanawha. A daughter Dorothy died in infancy.

Also surviving of his immediate family are 10 grandchildren, one brother Gus of Lindsay, Calif., two sisters Mrs. Flora McElmurray of Lexington, Mo., Mrs. Rose Page of Des Moines, and a number of nieces and nephews to whom "Uncle Will" was always a prime favorite.

A host of friends realize that in the passing of Mr. Bleasner the community has lost a solid citizen, a man honest and up right in all his business dealings and one whose influence was always felt on the side of what he considered right and best for the good of the neighborhood.
