Almeda Wood Blackman
26 September 1883 ---- 28 July 1976

Funeral services for Mrs. Almeda Blackman, who died July 28 at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, were Friday afternoon at the Kastler - Babcock – DeYoung Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Forbes of Ames, formerly of Eagle Grove, was in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Obituary

Almeda Wood Blackman was born Sept. 26, 1882 in Monroe, Wis. She was the daughter of Rozila Moody and Dwight Wood. They lived in Monroe until 1898 when the family moved to Rolfe. She was united in marriage to Warren O. Blackman of Richland Center, Wis. They spent their entire married life in Eagle Grove where Mr. Blackman was a fireman and engineer for the Chicago North Western Railroad until he passed away Oct. 21, 1946.

She is survived by three sons, Russell, Bernard, and Warren and one daughter, Dr. Evelyn Blackman. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, her husband, and two sons, Everett and Gerald.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, and was a 50-year member of the Railroad Ladies of BF of LE.

She suffered a stroke Jan. 12, was hospitalized in Fort Dodge, and was cared for at Golden Acres and at Rotary Ann Nursing Home. She died July 28.
