Michael Eugene Kessel
21 June 1947 ---- 30 July 1947

Michael Eugene Kessel was born on June 21, 1947, at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

At five days of age, he came with his parents to the Wixom home in this city where he brightened the hearts of the household for two and one-half weeks.

At that time, he went with his parents to his new home on the farm five miles south of Eagle Grove. In his short visit with us, he became a little ray of sunshine and brought a joy that couldn't be expressed.

On July thirtieth, his visit with us ended when he was called to make his home with Jesus.

He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kessel; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kessel of near Dows, formerly of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wixom of this city; his aunts and uncles, Donald Kessel, Dows; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kessel, southwest of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Christopulas, Newton; and two cousins, Gary Kessel and Sharon Christopulas.

Our Little Jewel

Only five short weeks ago,
There came to bring us joy
Little Mickey Kessel
Our darling Baby Boy.

The happiness we shared the while,
That he was in our midst
Was just chuck full of joyousness
And moments of sweet bliss.

But now another story comes,
A story not so bright,
For Jesus came and took our baby
Just the other night.

Like a rose in just a bud,
From us he was plucked,
But the fragrance still will linger, for in our hearts, a memory's tucked.

Never again will his little white cheek
Be pressed up next to mine
Nor his eyes of innocence
In the daylight shine.

Our great loss is Heaven's gain
Though it's hard to say goodbye
But surely God knoweth' well,
What's best for you and I.

For some time soon, we know not when,
We too shall pass away
To meet the blessed Master,
Who gives and takes away.

He took our little jewel when
He took our baby boy
But do not say that he is dead
He just has gone away.
