Gladise Mildred Lenore Larson was born March 16, 1912, the daughter of Lewis and Laura Jacobsen Larson at Holmes. She received her education in the Goldfield and Eagle Grove school
systems. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1930. Upon her graduation, she taught rural school for three years before attending the University of Iowa in Iowa City where she received her Bachelor's degree in Economics, Sociology and Social Administration.

She was employed in Knoxville as a social case worker and county welfare director in 1937. She was united in marriage to Gerald Edwin Knox of Knoxville on December 24, 1939 at Princeton, Mo. Upon retiring from social work in 1948, the couple owned and operated the Cook's Paint Store in Knoxville. The couple retired and moved to Goldfield in 1974. Mr. Knox died in 1975.

She continued to make her home in Goldfield until entering the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion on January 29 of this year. She was a member of the Oakridge Recreation Association in Goldfield.

Gladise Mildred Lenore Knox died Saturday, February 6, 1993 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 20 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Joseph, Harlan, Lloyd and Ludwig; and three sisters, Clara Olson, Tillie Nelson and Luella Fatland Meis.

She is survived by two brothers, Clarence Larson of Goldfield, and LeRoy Larson of Fort Dodge; and a sister, Lyda Coffelt of Aurelia.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 8 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. James Rozendaal officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services, and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
