Funeral services for Lloyd H. Blankenship, 70 of Dows, were held at the First Lutheran Church in Dows on Tuesday, February 5, 1980 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Harold McMillin officiated and burial was in the Dows Fairview Cemetery. The Willim Funeral Home in Dows had charge of the arrangements.

Lloyd died Saturday, February 2, 1980 at the Mercy Hospital in Mason City following surgery.

He was born May 29, 1909 in Clarion and was the son of Henry and Lillian Sturgeon Blankenship. He was raised and educated in Clarion and was united in marriage to Ida Dingman in 1934 and they farmed in Popejoy, Geneva and Dows. She died on February 25, 1965. He was then married to Esther Bohlen Evilsizer on June 14, 1969 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City.

Lloyd was owner and operator of the Dows Sale Barn and in 1957 purchased the L and H Chevrolet garage with Henry Waggoner and was in business up until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a former member of the Elks Club in Iowa Falls and a past officer of the Community Club.

He is survived by his wife, Esther and four step-children: Ronald Evilsizer of Denison; Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Mueller of Lexington, Kentucky; Douglas Evilsizer of Mayport, Florida and Mrs. Jerry (Pamela) Staley of Webster City.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Vera Waddell of Hampton and two brothers, Lowell of Spirit Lake and Lawrence of Sheffield. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and two sisters.
