Chester Raymond Bailey
8 September 1895 ---- 8 August 1944

Chester Ray Bailey, son of William and Frances Tower Bailey, was born on a farm in Grant township, Hardin County, Iowa, September 8, 1895. He passed away August 8, 1944 at the age of 48 years, 11 months at the Veteran's Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.

His mother died when he was but three years old. He made his home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Bailey for six years. After that time, he made his home with his older brother, J. B. Bailey.

He was united in marriage to Miss Elma Paulson of Brainerd, Minn. on February 1, 1920. To this union was born four daughters and one son. Mrs. Ileen Robertson, Belmond; Mrs. Nina Pfaffenbach, Webster City; Mrs. Bertha Helm, Gainesville, Florida; Marjorie, at home; son, William in the Navy somewhere in the Pacific. Also surviving are two grandchildren, five brothers and one sister. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

The family came to Eagle Grove early in the year 1930. Mr. Bailey, an employee of Armour & Co., later was employed by the city and was such at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Kastler's Funeral Home in charge of Rev. C. W. Tompkins.
