Obituary

Vivian G. Beecher was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on August 6, 1911 son of Leslie and Mamie Beecher. His education was received in the Eagle Grove schools. After completing the eleventh grade he went to work in the Chicago and North Western machine shop of his hometown where most of his life has been spent, until three years ago when he became machinist for the same railroad in Clinton, Iowa.

Mr. Beecher was married Sept. 28, 1931 to Miss Helen Vroman of Goldfield, Iowa. Three children have been born to them.

Nine months and a half ago Mr. Beecher was stricken with a serious illness which surgical care at Rochester was unable to relieve and after months of suffering he finally passed away at his home in Clinton on June 3, 1944 at 11:50 a.m.

Mr. Beecher was one of the noble souls who is able to bear suffering patiently. The courage and cheerfulness with which he lived through the last painful weeks will remain a source of comfort to the friends and relatives who were with him as the end neared.

The body was brought from the Snell Funeral Home in Clinton to the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held at the parental home of Mrs. Beecher in Goldfield and the Methodist church. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Mr. Beecher is survived by his widow and two sons, Leslie and Eugene, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Beecher of Eagle Grove, and three brothers, Marian and Carroll, both of Clinton, and Harry, a member of the U. S. Navy stationed in the South Pacific.
