Olena “Lina” Orsland Toresdahl
22 July 1869 --- 8 January 1943

Olena Orsland was born to parents, Jacob and Dorthea Orsland, at Orsland, Skjold Parish, Stavanger, Norway, July 22, 1869, and passed away from this life Friday, Jan. 8, 1943, age 73 years, 5 months, and 17 days. She was baptized unto Christ, received Christian instruction, and confessed her Christian faith.

In 1873, she came with her parents and family to America to Huxley, Iowa, later to the vicinity of Thor, where she grew to womanhood. On November 26, 1902 she was united in marriage to William Toresdahl. Mr. and Mrs. Toresdahl lived on their farm until they retired to Eagle Grove a few years ago. One little girl, Irene, was born to them. She made glad their married life with her fine Christian character until she was 25 years of age, passing away Aug. 30, 1933.

Mrs. Toresdahl is now survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Martha Holm of Eagle Grove, and Jens Orsland, also of Eagle Grove, besides a large number of nephews and nieces and other relatives.

Mrs. Toresdahl was a kindhearted, patient, and loving Christian lady. A devoted wife and mother, she made the home a place of sunshine. She was a helpful neighbor, beloved by all who knew her. She was fondly devoted to her church and Savior, active in all work pertaining to the kingdom of Christ. She served repeatedly as an officer of the Ladies' Aid society and supported the kingdom with her means.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 11 from the home and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was made in the family lot of the Rose Hill cemetery.
