Hattie M. Dickey Haskin
14 January 1858 ---- 29 October 1943

Hattie M. Haskins, [Haskin] the daughter of Joseph E. and Amanda Dickey, was born January 14, 1858. She was married to J. N. Haskins of Audubon county on February 14, 1880. She pioneered in Iowa and in Stuart, Neb., living there until in 1907. Rich was her life in the life of her family for her hands and her mother's love nurtured six children: Roswell A. of Minneapolis; George E. of Eagle Grove; Bertha A. Porter of Omaha; Edwin L. deceased in 1904; Harry H. of Miami, Fla.; and Leroy R. of the United States Navy, and her 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She had been a respected resident of our community since 1907. She was a member of the French Lutheran church until January 20, 1924, when under the pastorate of the Rev. W. G. Muhleman she was received into the membership of the Methodist church of Eagle Grove.

She has lived well 85 years, and yet when multiplied by the influence of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, we cannot measure her years of faithfulness or estimate her realm of good. She slept peacefully away Friday morning, Oct. 29, hence has joined the company of the immortals.

Services were held in the Wilson Chapel Sunday. Mrs. John Shoenhair and Mrs. E. C. Johnson sang, Mrs. George DeForest played. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery.

The immediate family present was: Mr. and Mrs. George Haskins of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Haskins of the United States Navy and Mrs. Bertha A. Porter of Omaha, Neb.
